Harm Reduction Training

All staff at Grow, Networks, Housing, Bridges, and some at Eagle Rock /Greenridge and two Directors will be taking Harm Reduction Training. The Course is put on by Camosun College and designed for us.

This course will help staff understand the practises of Harm Reduction and will be held for four Mondays on September 28, October 19, November 2 and 16. The course will run from 1:30-3:30 at 102-415 Gorge Rd East.

Course outline:

  • Session One –two hours • Overview of Harm Reduction • Trauma and contributing factors of addiction
  • Session Two –two hours • Using and coping • Using and not coping • Indicators that a person is in trouble
  • Session Three –two hours • Drugs and how they may affect people • Common adverse drug interactions
  • Session Four –two hours • Safety of self and others • Deescalating behavior when using • Procedures when person is harming self and others • Self-care
