GROW to offer Shaping Stone workshop – July 17, 2015

The “Shaping Stone” sculpture workshop introduces participants to hand tools, polishing compounds, and the reductive process of stone-carving. Working with stone emphasizes focus and concentration. Sculpting stone does not bring anything new into the world,it simply transforms what already exists. This introspective process gives us a little glimpse into the quiet passing of time while teaching us that we are capable of not only transforming matter but also transforming ourselves. All participants will leave with the sculpture they’ve created, and the artistic sense of accomplishment that they’ve earned.

When: July 17, 10:30 – 12:30

Where: Island Community Mental Health – 125 Skinner Street, Victoria
